Clare’s Boutique & Shabby Chic (referred to as “the Business”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates from Kent, United Kingdom. These Terms and Conditions apply to all purchases, commissions, workshop bookings, and use of our website.

Please read these terms carefully before placing an order or booking a class. By using our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Clare’s Boutique & Shabby Chic is a sole proprietorship based in Kent, United Kingdom. We specialise in sustainable second hand furniture, bespoke upcycled pieces, mineral paint supply, and upcycling workshops.

Customers may reach us via the contact form on our website. We aim to respond within two working days. For urgent matters regarding delivery or commissions, please use the contact details provided at checkout.

Products and Services

Pre Loved Furniture

All quality second hand furniture is sold in either original condition or after professional upcycling. We accurately describe each piece’s condition. Minor imperfections that add character will be noted in the product listing.

Bespoke Commissions

When you request bespoke upcycled furniture made to order, we will provide a written quote. This quote includes the scope of work, materials, timeline, and total price. No work begins until you approve the quote in writing.

Workshops

Our furniture painting classes and upcycling workshops are held at our Kent workshop. You must book in advance. All materials are provided unless stated otherwise.

Mineral Paint

We are an authorised stockist of Sophie James Mineral Paint. Paint is sold as seen on the colour card. Screen displays may vary from actual paint colours.

Pricing and Payment

Prices

All prices are in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We reserve the right to change prices without notice. However, once you have placed an order, the price is fixed for that transaction.

Payment Terms

For standard purchases, full payment is due at checkout. For bespoke commissions, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit before work begins. The remaining 50% is due upon completion and before delivery or collection.

Payment Methods

We accept major debit cards, credit cards, and bank transfers. We do not store any payment card details on our servers.

Delivery and Collection

Delivery Area

We currently display delivery rates for Kent. However, we are happy to arrange delivery to other parts of the United Kingdom using trusted couriers from Shipley. A quote will be provided before dispatch.

Delivery Timeline

Standard furniture delivery within Kent takes 3 to 7 working days. Bespoke commissions take 2 to 6 weeks depending on the scope of work. We will communicate timelines clearly at the point of order.

Collection

Customers may collect items from our Kent workshop by prior appointment. Please bring your order confirmation and identification.

Failed Delivery

If you are not available to receive a delivery, the courier will leave a card. Re delivery fees may apply. After three failed attempts, the order will be returned to our workshop and storage charges may apply.

Cancellations and Returns

Right to Cancel (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013)

If you are a consumer purchasing from us online, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days without giving any reason. The cancellation period expires 14 days after the day you receive the goods.

Exceptions to Right to Cancel

You cannot cancel an order for bespoke or personalised furniture that has been made to your specifications. You also cannot cancel workshop bookings within 7 days of the class date. Mineral paint cannot be returned once opened due to hygiene and safety reasons.

How to Cancel

To cancel, please inform us in writing via the contact form. You must return the goods within 14 days of cancellation. You are responsible for the return shipping costs.

Condition of Returns

Returned items must be in the same condition as received. If an item is damaged or used, we may deduct from your refund.

Refunds

Refunds will be processed within 14 days of receiving the returned goods. Refunds are made using the original payment method.

Damage and Faults

Reporting Damage

Please inspect your furniture immediately upon delivery. If an item is damaged or faulty, you must notify us within 48 hours of delivery. Provide photographs showing the damage clearly.

Remedies

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund depending on the nature of the fault. We will resolve all genuine issues promptly and fairly.

Fair Wear and Tear

Pre loved furniture may show signs of previous life. These are not considered faults. We always disclose such characteristics in product descriptions.

Workshop Bookings

Booking Confirmation

Your workshop seat is confirmed only after full payment is received. We send a confirmation email with date, time, location, and what to bring.

Cancellation by Customer

If you cancel more than 14 days before the workshop, you receive a full refund. If you cancel between 7 and 14 days, you receive a 50% refund. Cancellations within 7 days are non-refundable.

Cancellation by Us

If we cancel a workshop due to low numbers or unforeseen circumstances, you may choose a full refund or a transfer to a future date.

Safety

All participants must follow safety instructions. Closed toe shoes are required. We are not liable for injuries caused by failure to follow guidance.

Commissions (Customer's Own Furniture)

Quotation

When you ask us to upcycle your own furniture, we provide a written quote based on photos or an in person assessment. The quote is valid for 30 days.

Deposit

A 50% non-refundable deposit secures your place in our workshop schedule. This deposit covers initial materials and time.

Collection and Return

You are responsible for delivering your furniture to our Kent workshop. We offer paid collection and delivery services within Kent at an extra cost.

Ownership of Original Piece

Your furniture remains your property throughout the process. We are not responsible for existing structural weaknesses that become apparent during upcycling.

Completion Timeline

Standard commissions take 2 to 6 weeks. If we anticipate delays, we will inform you as soon as possible.

Liability

Our Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from our products or services is limited to the price paid by you for that product or service.

Consequential Loss

We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profits, data, or use of furniture during the upcycling process.

Workshop Liability

Students participate in workshops at their own risk. We provide a safe environment and proper guidance. You are responsible for your own belongings.
